About Recalibrate Medicine

A different kind of practicefor people who expect more from their life and health

Recalibrate Medicine was built for people who know something has changed even when no one has given them a satisfying explanation. We don't begin by assuming you need a particular treatment. We begin by asking what changed, what matters, and what deserves a closer look. Physician-led. Individualized. Measured over time. Not medicine by algorithm. Not a one-size-fits-all protocol. Not a prescription-first practice.

What we believe

Good medicine starts with the person. Not a one-size-fits-none protocol.

Three decades of working with hormonal physiology taught Dr. Mooney something simple: two people can have similar laboratory results and still need very different conversations. Numbers matter. But so do symptoms. History. Risk. Goals. Relationships. Lifestyle. In addition to how a person actually feels and functions. Recalibrate Medicine was built around putting those pieces back together.

01. Symptoms are data too

Laboratory testing matters. But so does what you tell us. If your energy, sleep, body composition, sexual health, cognition or recovery has changed, that information belongs in the clinical picture.

02. The same number doesn't mean the same thing for every person

A laboratory result should never be interpreted without context. Age, symptoms, medical history, medications, risk factors and goals all matter. We treat people. We do not treat reference ranges.

03. You should understand your own care

You should know why we're ordering a test, what a result may mean, why treatment is or is not being recommended, what we expect it to accomplish, and how we'll know whether it worked. Medicine should not happen to you. You should understand it.

04. Your health is a long-term project

Aging isn't one appointment. Neither is hormone health, metabolic health, body composition or prevention. Your physiology changes. Your goals change. Your strategy should be able to change with them.

05. Treatment is not the goal

The goal is better health and better function. Medication may be useful. Hormones may be appropriate. Sometimes the right decision is not to prescribe anything at all. The treatment should serve the patient. The patient should never be made to fit the treatment.

In practice

Measure. Understand. Treat when appropriate. Verify. Recalibrate.

Who we treat

You don't have to be sick to know you're not at your best

Many Recalibrate Medicine patients are doing well by almost every conventional measure. They're working, leading, raising families, traveling, training, building businesses and careers. But they know their body or mind isn't responding the way it used to. Others feel well and want to be more intentional about protecting the decades ahead.

Your energy has changed

You can still push through. You just don't want every day to require so much pushing.

Your body responds differently

The same food, exercise and discipline no longer produce the same result.

Your brain doesn't feel as sharp

Focus, motivation, mental stamina or memory feel less effortless.

Your sexual health has changed

Desire, function, comfort or confidence are no longer what they used to be.

You've been told everything looks fine

Yet something still doesn't feel right. You want a physician willing to examine the whole picture rather than stop the conversation there.

You feel good and want to keep it that way

You are thinking about cardiovascular health, metabolic health, strength, cognition and independence before something forces you to act.

Recalibrate may not be the right fit if…

  1. You're simply looking for the fastest way to obtain a prescription.

  2. You want a medication without appropriate evaluation or monitoring.

  3. You're looking for guaranteed results, especially without putting in some work yourself.

  4. You're not interested in participating in the decisions that shape your health, happiness and lifestyle.

Stephen B. Mooney, MDFounder & Medical Director

Founder & Medical Director

Meet the physician behind Recalibrate.

After more than three decades in medicine, Dr. Stephen Mooney has learned that the most important question is rarely “is this lab result inside the reference range?” The better question is: what does this mean for this person? Dr. Mooney spent his career in reproductive endocrinology, a specialty in which hormones, physiology, laboratory interpretation and deeply personal life goals are inseparable. That experience required understanding why two patients with similar results could need entirely different strategies. Over time that raised a larger question: why should that level of attention be reserved for patients needing fertility care? Recalibrate Medicine grew from that idea.

“I want patients to understand why we're doing something, what we're trying to accomplish and how we'll know whether it's working.”

In their words

The best way to understand a physician is to listen to his patients.

Credentials tell you where a physician trained. Patients tell you what it feels like to sit across from him. The same themes appear again and again in Dr. Mooney's reviews.

He listens.

“Dr. Mooney and his staff were nothing short of amazing. I've never felt more heard or comfortable talking with a professional about my struggles we've encountered in this journey of life. The explanation, gentleness, and research based information Dr. Mooney provided during my visit is a day I will never forget…”

He explains.

“We love Dr Mooney! He is real with you and explains everything in detail so anyone can understand. Dr Mooney is very calm & takes time to answer questions. His nurse, Megan, is also amazing!! She is so friendly & very easy to talk to…”

Listen. Think. Explain. Treat.

He thinks deeply about the case.

“Dr. Mooney took his time thoroughly reviewing my previous work-up from another office and was very factual and evidence-based in his approach. He was proactive in addressing underlying issues that had previously been overlooked and presented additional options that were originally made out to be off the table. I would absolutely recommend Dr. Mooney to anyone looking for a physician who thinks outside the box. He explains things in a way you can easily understand…”

He's straightforward.

“Dr Mooney was straightforward with me and didn't just tell me what I wanted to hear at our consultation.”
